Marble is very pure calcium carbonate (CaCO3), in the form of metamorphosed limestone. During the metamorphosis from limestone, any fossils in the limestone are destroyed by temperature and pressure, leaving a homogenous, relatively soft stone ideal for sculpting and building. Marble is highly desired as a building material due to its beauty in all forms, including rustic, antiqued (aged), honed, and polished. DM Decos By Design, Inc. stocks marble in three main colors: crema marfil (creamy pale beige), marron emperador (dark brown with white veining), and rojo alicante (red/rusty with brown and white veins).
